IEI 2019 Winter Summit Highlights
Marriott | san juan, pr | January 21–24, 2019
On behalf of the IEI Board of Directors and our Advisors, thank you to everyone who played a part in making the Winter 2019 Summit a success, and our sincerest gratitude to gold sponsors Classlink, BrainPOP, ThoughtExchange, and Right at School!
IEI summits convene thought leaders in K–12 education for several days of professional growth–oriented activities, workshops that tackle tough issues like school safety and family engagement, and opportunities to come together, recharge, and learn from our peers.
After every summit, we return to our districts energized and equipped with new tools to better serve our community.
The theme for our Winter 2019 Institute, which took place in San Juan, Puerto Rico, was family engagement. Highlights included:
A keynote and workshop from Dr. Steve Constantino, the retired superintendent leading the charge to help educational leaders nationwide increase their ability to engage every family they serve
The introduction of the ThoughtExchange app to facilitate our discussions and capture our ideas
A discussion with Puerto Rico DOE Secretary Dr. Julia Keleher and her leadership team about the unique challenges they face educating the island’s 350,000 students, regardless of hurricanes
A workshop on “superintendent time management” from IEI member and author Dr. PJ Caposey from Meridian, IL
At IEI we’re building a family of entrepreneurs and educational leaders who care deeply about improving outcomes for students, teachers, families, and communities. By working together, we believe we can uncover new solutions to the age-old challenges facing our schools and communities.
